What Is The Difference Between Click Lok & Drop Lock Flooring?

Click Lok and Drop Lock are two popular locking mechanisms used for installing floating floors, such as engineered wood flooring and LVT planks. While they serve the same purpose—allowing the planks to fit together without glue or nails—the way they operate is different.

Click Lok Flooring: This system involves aligning the tongue and groove of each plank at a specific angle, usually around 25-45 degrees. Once aligned, you click the plank down into place. It's known for being very secure and sturdy. This type of flooring is great for DIY projects because it’s relatively straightforward but requires a bit more effort and precision compared to Drop Lock.

Drop Lock Flooring: Drop Lock is even easier! You simply align the planks side by side and press them down to lock. Instead of angling the planks, you drop the new plank into place, and it locks instantly. This method speeds up the installation process, making it perfect for large rooms or when time is of the essence.

In short, Click Lok is slightly more involved and sturdy, while Drop Lock is quicker and simpler for installation. Both provide a seamless finish but suit different preferences and installation expertise.
