What is engineered wood flooring?

Engineered wood flooring is made from a top layer of real hardwood — such as oak or walnut — bonded to multiple layers of high-density plywood or softwood beneath. This layered construction makes engineered flooring more stable than solid wood, especially in areas with changing temperatures or humidity.

Unlike laminate, which only mimics wood, engineered flooring looks and feels exactly like solid wood because it is real wood on top. It’s compatible with underfloor heating (if water-based) and comes in various finishes like brushed, lacquered, and UV oiled.
